Transfer news: Kaizer Chiefs striker returns to his former club

Stellenbosch FC have officially announced the signing of Ashley Du Preez from Kaizer Chiefs on a permanent transfer. The pacey forward returns to his hometown club after making 98 appearances during his first spell and says it always felt like home.
The 29-year-old marks his second spell at Stellenbosch FC, where he began his professional career in 2016.

During his first stint with Stellies, Du Preez made 98 appearances across all competitions before earning a move to Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the 2022/23 Betway Premiership season.

Du Preez admitted that returning to Stellenbosch FC was always part of his plan. “I always knew that I would come back to Stellenbosch,” Du Preez said.
“It’s great to be back where I grew up and at the Club where it all started for me, and to be part of the Stellenbosch family again.” The forward also spoke about what it means to represent his hometown club once again.

“The community knows me well and has supported me since the start of my professional career, so being a local player and representing the Club again is a huge honour and privilege for me. It’s an amazing feeling to be back.”
