Is Uli Hoeneß mellowing in his old age? Say it ain’t so! After months of pushing for sales, the Bayern Munich legend is relieving board member for sport Max Eberl of that pressure. While Hoeneß wants to see a few sales, it is no longer a requirement for Eberl to keep his job.

“If we can now manage to move one or two players on — which is what we’d ideally like to do — that would be great. But I also want to make one thing absolutely clear: a contract with Bayern Munich is sacrosanct. That means if, in the end, no suitable solution is found, we’ll keep the players,” Hoeneß said.

This is pretty significant as Bayern Munich has three pretty expensive surplus players on the roster at the moment. Per Capology, João Palhinha (€12,000,000 total pay package), Bryan Zaragoza (€8,490,000 total pay package), and Sacha Boey (€4,340,000 total pay package) all carry significant financial burdens without much hope for playing time.

Another big candidate for sale is Hiroki Itō (€4,700,000 total pay package), but as the squad’s fourth center-back, he — at least — has a role that would be needed and a pay package commensurate with his role.

No doubt, Eberl will still try to unload those aforementioned players (and maybe a few youngsters as well), but not feeling like he will lose his job if he cannot move those players is like a big relief.

United to make move for Camavinga? (ESPN)

Manchester United seems to have its eyes on a few Real Madrid players, including midfielder Eduardo Camavinga:

Manchester United are exploring a move for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga. Nicolo Schira reports that Los Blancos are now willing to listen to offers to sign the 23-year-old, who was previously viewed as a key player for the club’s future project. Camavinga is one of several players to have been linked with a switch to Old Trafford, where it looks as though the club’s hierarchy are plotting one more marquee addition in midfield after recently confirming the signings of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.

Bayern will wait to see how Saibari performs before enacting 2027 striker plan (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)

Earlier this week, we saw the report break about Bayern Munich potentially looking to add a striker in the summer of 2027. Now, Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk wants to expand on the information a bit:

✅ It is TRUE: There is an idea to give Harry Kane a deeper role as he gets older at Bayern Munich. The striker knows he’s not getting faster as the years progress, but everyone can see that he already has an important role at FC Bayern with his passing and playmaking ability. So, he already has in his mind that he could play deeper and leave room for a pure striker ahead of him. This idea was already developing at the club when Vincent Kompany first joined in 2024, which was why Bayern had the idea to bring Benjamin Šeško to Munich. He was too expensive at the time, which is why Manchester United ended up pulling off the deal a year later.

However, the idea is still there to bring such a striker into the team. Now, Bayern have Ismael Saibari who can cover this role as well. So Bayern will perhaps see if they can make it work already this coming season. So they have to see if they’ll still need a player like Šeško down the line. The Slovenian is still on the list and he’s a player who’s very interesting for FC Bayern. Perhaps, if he’s struggling to make his mark in the Premier League, they could return to this idea. The plan for the future, nonetheless, is to sign another striker who can be a Harry Kane successor but also play in a two-striker system. This is one of Vincent Kompany’s key ideas.

On the surface, it does make sense, but there are a lot of variables, including what the new contracts look like for other attackers like Harry Kane and Michael Olise; along with how players like Saibari, Lennart Karl, and Arijon Ibrahimović perform over the course of this season.

Juve still eyeing Zirkzee (ESPN)

Juventus is still reportedly toying with the idea of bringing in Joshua Zirkzee:

Juventus are discussing a move for Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee, The Sun reports. Both clubs are said to be in advanced talks regarding an initial loan deal that would include an option to be made permanent for £30 million, with the 25-year-old identified by Juve i as an alternative to Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani. Zirkzee scored just two goals in 24 Premier League appearances last season.

ESPN would later come back with additional information as well:

Juventus have registered their interest in Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee, sources have told ESPN. United are open to offers for the Netherlands international and would prefer a straight transfer. Juventus are exploring all options including a season-long loan with an obligation or option to make the move permanent.

PSG not interested in Rodri (Marca via ESPN)

Paris Saint-Germain is out on a pursuit of Manchester City star midfielder Rodri:

Paris Saint-Germain have no interest in Manchester City midfielder Rodri, who has recently been linked with Real Madrid.

However, Real Madrid could actually be getting close to a deal with the City star per ESPN:

Real Madrid are confident of reaching an agreement to sign Manchester City midfielder Rodri after holding positive talks with the Spain international, according to AS. Personal terms are understood to be in place, with the LaLiga side now focused on agreeing a transfer fee with City, who have already rejected an initial approach. Madrid remain optimistic a deal can be completed, as Rodri is keen on returning to Spain after entering the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Brandt transfers to Ajax (AFC Ajax)

Former Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Julian Brandt has made the move to Ajax:

Marc-André ter Stegen is also rumored to be on the way to Ajax as well per Diario Sport:

Bayern not confident in selling Palhinha to Villa (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)

Bayern Munich is reportedly not feeling great about being able to sell João Palhinha to Aston Villa:

Bayern are not particularly confident, at the moment, that a deal will be struck with Aston Villa for João Palhinha. They’ve tried to put pressure on the player, but the Portuguese international has also put the pressure back on the club by insisting that he’s going to stay put if Bayern are determined to attach a high asking price to him and there aren’t any clubs available that he’d like to join. This is hard for Bayern, as they do want to sell him.

There is still a big hope that Aston Villa will come in with an offer. I think he’d fit in perfectly at this great club. I saw the midfielder in training on Wednesday, and I have to say that he’s doing really well. The players were giving him a hard time but he gave as good as he got! He almost picked up an injury, such was the intensity of his showing. He wanted to show that he’s good enough for Bayern and, of course, good enough for a big club like Villa. I think we should keep an eye on him. But, at the moment, it’s all a bit quiet.

Mudryk is cleared to return (Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano)

Chelsea attacker Mykhailo Mudryk is cleared from his ban and will return to the club. What lies ahead, though, is very cloudy for the now 25-year-old:

At one point, Mudryk was on Bayern Munich’s radar. While a move is not happening, could this be a potential value buy next summer? Would it even make sense?

Right now, the full focus will be on Chelsea figuring out if Mudryk can still play at a high level.

Romano later checked in with a statement from Chelsea:

🔵🇺🇦 Mykhaylo Mudryk travels on Sunday to Hong Kong to re-join Chelsea with immediate effect.

“We know how much this opportunity to return means to him. Our focus now is on supporting Misha’s reintegration into the squad and helping him resume his career. Everyone at the Club now looks forward to helping Misha return to full fitness, back into the squad and back onto the pitch”.
