SASSA reminder: Old-age grant payment date for August 2026

· The South African

SASSA has confirmed that Older Persons’ Grants will be paid from Tuesday, 4 August. This makes older persons the first group to receive their grants in the new payment cycle, ahead of Disability Grants on 5 August and Children’s Grants on 6 August.

Visit asg-reflektory.pl for more information.

SASSA typically stages payments across different categories each month to ease pressure on banking systems, retail payment points, and post office queues. Beneficiaries who receive their grants into bank accounts should see funds reflect from the confirmed date, while those collecting cash at pay points are advised to check with their specific location for exact times.

Fourth payment day flagged for reviews

SASSA has also flagged 7 August as the fourth payment day, specifically for beneficiaries who have been targeted for a review of their grant status. If a grant is not paid on a beneficiary’s usual payment date and only reflects on this fourth day, it is a sign that the account has been selected for review and that SASSA was unable to make contact beforehand.

Beneficiaries who fall into this category should not assume their grant has been cancelled. Instead, SASSA is asking them to treat the delay as a prompt to act quickly, since a formal process now needs to be completed at a local office.

What older persons need to bring to SASSA offices

Anyone affected is requested to visit their nearest SASSA office before the 18th of the following month to complete the review process. The documents needed include:

  • Proof of income
  • Proof of marital status
  • Any other relevant supporting documentation

These documents help SASSA confirm continued eligibility for the Older Persons’ Grant and finalise the review without further payment interruptions. Beneficiaries who miss the 18th deadline risk longer delays in having their grants reinstated, so SASSA is urging affected pensioners to prioritise the office visit as soon as they notice a missed payment.

For most older persons, though, Tuesday, 4 August remains the date to watch, with SASSA reiterating its commitment to paying the right grant to the right person, at the right time and place.
