Mississauga trucker charged after getting wedged in ‘hairpin turn’ in Caledon

A commercial truck driver is facing charges after his massive motor vehicle “became wedged” on a scenic road in Caledon.

The driver, a 65-year-old Mississauga man, was attempting to make a “tight hairpin turn” on Forks of the Credit Road on Friday, when the truck and trailer became wedged into the guardrail, Caledon OPP said in a news release.
The area has signs indicating that it is a no heavy truck route.
The scenic roadway, which runs between Mississauga Rd. and Hurontario St., was closed for more than two hours as crews worked to safely remove the truck and trailer, according to the OPP.
The driver, who has not been identified, has been charged with disobeying a sign and interfering with traffic.
“Caledon OPP would like to remind commercial motor vehicle drivers that there are many route restrictions in Caledon that exist to keep them, their trucks and the roads safe,” the detachment said. “If the GPS says yes, but the sign says no — TRUST THE SIGN.”
Motorists familiar with the area took to social media to comment on the traffic snafu.
“I can barely keep my F150 between the lines on that curve,” one driver noted on X.
Another asked, “How in the actual f*** does someone jackknife their semi and trailer this badly that it ends up over the guardrail and effectively blocking the road?”
Caledon officers continue to conduct commercial vehicle enforcement initiatives every day of the year in an ongoing effort to ensure the safety and security of our community members and those passing through the town, the OPP notes.
