Central Railway has achieved two significant milestones in its freight business with the successful commencement of automobile loading from Bhigwan Goods Shed on Solapur Division and Bhusawal Goods Shed on Bhusaval Division. These landmark achievements mark the addition of a new stream of freight traffic and further strengthen Central Railway's commitment to customer-oriented logistics services and freight diversification.

Solapur Division (after the shifting of Daund and Manmad section to Pune Division) has recorded the First Automobile Loading from Bhigwan Goods Shed on 19th July 2026 marking another milestone in its freight business.
The First New Modified Goods (NMG) rake comprising 25 NMG wagons carrying 100 automobiles was successfully loaded from Bhigwan Goods Shed to B.R. Transcon Limited Goods Cargo Terminal, Rangiya Division of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) in Assam's Kamrup district. The maiden loading generated a freight revenue of ₹21 lakh.
Bhigwan Goods Shed has witnessed steady infrastructure and business development in recent years. The handling line, which was earlier utilized for ballast handling, was opened for freight customers in May 2024. Subsequently, unloading of coal commenced in May 2024, followed by iron bars in January 2026. The circulating area and approach road were also developed significantly enhancing freight handling capabilities.
The future potential for automobile traffic from Bhigwan is highly encouraging. 26 indents for automobile loading through NMG rakes have already been registered from Bhigwan to various destinations, with an expected earning of approximately ₹16 lakh to ₹22 lakh per rake, indicating substantial growth prospects in this segment.
Automobile Loading commences from Bhusaval Goods Shed
Bhusaval Division has also added a new chapter to its freight achievements by successfully commencing automobile loading from Bhusawal Goods Shed for M/s Mahindra Logistics Ltd., Nashik.
The initiative has been undertaken in preparation for the proposed Simhastha Kumbh Mela at Nashik in July 2027, with the objective of retaining and expanding existing automobile traffic through rail transportation.
On 24th July 2026, the first NMG rake comprising 25 NMG wagons carrying 100 automobiles was successfully loaded from Bhusawal Goods Shed to Nidvanda (NDV) in Bengaluru Division of South Western Railway.
This maiden loading generated a freight revenue of ₹14.82 lakh and was made possible through the sustained efforts of the Division's Business Development Unit (BDU) in developing new freight business opportunities.
