Countdown to kickoff is back! USC will kick off its 2026 football season on August 29 when the Trojans host San Jose State at the Coliseum. In this series, we will be counting down the days until the season opener by highlighting a notable Trojan who wore each number.

With 34 days to go, today we look at former USC cornerback Tony Burnett.

Years played at USC: 2010-2012

Career highlights: After competing in both football and track at the junior college level, Burnett transferred to USC for track and field in 2009. In 2010, he walked on to the Trojans football team, on which he played for the next three years. Burnett emerged as a key contributor for USC as both a backup defensive back and on special teams, earning a scholarship in 2011. As a redshirt senior in 2012, he received All-Pac-12 honorable mention honors.

After USC: Burnett signed with the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent following the 2013 NFL Draft. However, he was released prior to the start of the season. He played in the Canadian Football League from 2015 through 2017.
