MVP Magarity Leads North to 12-8 Win in 2026 Senior All-American Women’s Game

Defense was in the air at Johnny Unitas Stadium on the campus of Towson University as the North topped the South 12-8, the second-lowest scoring game in All-America history (surpassed only by the South’s 10-9 OT win in 2018).

For her five-save effort, first half North goalie Maeve Magarity (Penn Charter, Pa. / Boston College) was named the Gatorade Player of the Game, the first goalie in the women’s game history to earn that distinction.
“It feels awesome, I’m so grateful and thankful,” Magarity said on the broadcast when informed of her selection. “I can’t even put it into words [being the first goalie to be named MVP]. This is something every little girl dreams of, so to be able to accomplish it is something I’ll never forget.”

Cece Powell (Marcellus, N.Y. / North Carolina) got the North on the board five seconds into the game with a free position shot, but the game was nip-and-tuck for the next six minutes as Maria Bragg (Severna Park, Md. / Florida) and Isabel Insley (Roland Park, Md. / Princeton) gave the South its lone lead of the game, but Ava Obloj (West Islip, N.Y. / Florida) and Anna Christie (St. Anthony’s, N.Y. / Notre Dame) put the North back up by one.
Over the next nine minutes, the North broke the game open, scoring six goals in a nine-minute span, highlighted by Emma Speed (St. Anthony’s, N.Y. / Florida) and Caitlin Barnes (Islip, N.Y. / Boston College) scored unassisted goals to punctuate the run.
Twice in the second half, the South was able to cut the deficit to four goals, but only got it to three after Emma McCarthy (Paul VI, Va. / North Carolina) assisted Kylie Waters (Milton, Ga. / Clemson) with 1:07 to go, but Obloj finalized the scoreline with :08 to play.
The South was led by eight saves and just three goals allowed from Reagan O’Donovan (McDonogh, Md. / Penn State), Insley led the scoring with three goals and an assist, while Waters and Bragg each scored twice and Kenzie Rassas (Georgetown Visitation, Md. / Notre Dame) had a goal and an assist.
The North got two goals each from Powell, Barnes and Obloj, as well as two assists from Casey Cummings (Nyack, N.Y. / Syracuse). The most eye-popping stats, however, came from Sabrina Asadurian (Wantagh, N.Y. / Stony Brook), who finished with five caused turnovers and six groundballs.
