Eagles Training Camp: What to expect from Eagles WR Darius Cooper

When the Philadelphia Eagles report to the Jefferson Health Training Complex on July 28 to open 2026 training camp, wide receiver Darius Cooper won't have the element of surprise on his side anymore.

A year ago, Cooper was an undrafted free agent out of FCS program Tarleton State, coming into an established receiver rotation. Nobody expected him to make noise in a room built around A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Instead, he turned heads all summer, headlined by a six-catch, 82-yard performance in his preseason debut. As a result, Cooper became the first undrafted rookie receiver to make the Eagles' 53-man roster out of camp since Hank Baskett in 2006.

Cooper went on to appear in nine games as a rookie, finishing with nine catches for 92 yards, and carved out a role as a physical run-blocker. His second-level block that sprung a 52-yard Saquon Barkley touchdown became one of the signature plays of Philadelphia's season.

This year, the landscape has shifted. With Brown traded to the New England Patriots this offseason, the Eagles brought in a new group of pass-catchers, and Cooper enters camp as one of just two receivers who were on last year's initial roster, alongside Smith. That experience gives him a leg up in terms of coaching trust, but it doesn't guarantee anything.

Cooper himself has downplayed any sense of entitlement heading into his second camp, noting that last year's success doesn't roll over. If he approaches this camp with the same work ethic that turned him into a fan-favorite in 2025, he has a real shot at building on his rookie momentum.
