A pending livestream titled, “LeBron James Introductory Press Conference,” briefly appeared on the team’s YouTube channel — before Heat officials took it down and said it was a mistake.
The video, scheduled for Monday, July 27, was “mistakenly made public,” a Heat spokesperson told the Miami Herald’s Anthony Chiang.
The spokesperson added that its social media team posted the pending livestream in the hopes of “the possibility of James eventually deciding to join the Heat this offseason.”

Heat officials deny the now-viral video’s validity.
Social media commenters couldn’t get past the fact that the Heat used a date — July 27 — for the potential livestream.
“The question is why would they put that date tho,” one user wrote on X, while another agreed: “So the social media guys just made up a set date for said press conference? lol.”
The Heat are on a shortlist of suitors for James, 41, who turned a free agent 23 days ago. The Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers and Minnesota Timberwolves are also vying for the 22-time All-Star.
The slip-up came one day after Heat president Pat Riley revisited his feelings about how James left the franchise in 2014 to go back to Cleveland.
“LeBron and I, we haven’t talked much but you let go of that stuff,” Riley, 81, said on The Dan Le Batard Show. “I was very disappointed because I thought we were looking at a dynasty. When he left it was very disappointing. I want to see him somewhere on the golf course one day.”
All the while another new Heat star — Giannis Antetokounmpo — is ready to hand over the welcome mat.
“If there was a scenario for that to happen, I’d be very, very excited,” Antetokounmpo, 31, said after his Heat introductory press conference last week. “He’s one of the best players to ever play this game, if not the best. [I’d] be able to learn so much from him.”

He added, “Obviously, brings such a championship experience to the team right from day one. I think he’s still one of the best players in the [game today], if not top 25 [at 41 years old]. You don’t see signs of him slowing down at all. You saw in the playoffs how effective and good he was for the Lakers.”
