It further reported that Adams spent time with friends afterwards. They allegedly noticed a change in his mood and described him as emotionally distressed.
The report also said Adams spoke to his father, Juanito at around 08:00 that morning and told his father he “can’t take it anymore.”
Police continue investigating
The South African Police Service (SAPS) found Adams dead at a property in Schotsche Kloof, Cape Town, on 11 July.
Police opened an inquest to determine the circumstances surrounding his death. Authorities have not released the cause of death.
Football continues to honour Adams
Adams’ death shocked South African football just weeks after he helped Bafana Bafana reach the knockout stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
At a memorial service held in Stellenbosch on Thursday, 16 July, Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams said the national team would honour Adams’ legacy every time they stepped onto the field.
“We will miss your quality, your passes, your vision and your brotherhood. We will never forget you. We will carry you in our hearts, carry you on our sleeves, carry you on this badge and forever you will remain part of us.”
Adams’ funeral is expected to take place on Saturday, 25 July.
