Barcelona transfer news continues to revolve around Julian Alvarez, with the Catalan club receiving fresh encouragement in their pursuit of the Argentina international.
According to SPORT, Atletico Madrid’s financial problems are becoming difficult to manage after an expensive start to the summer transfer window, leaving the club under pressure to complete significant player sales.
The situation has strengthened the belief within Barcelona that their offer for Julian Alvarez could eventually prove enough.
Rather than increasing their proposal, Joan Laporta and the club’s hierarchy remain convinced their current approach is the correct one, especially as Atletico Madrid’s finances continue to come under strain.
For now, Barcelona transfer rumours surrounding the striker refuse to disappear, with the Blaugrana monitoring every development while waiting to see whether Atletico are eventually forced into a major sale.
Atletico Madrid are forced to sell
The aforementioned outlet suggests Atletico Madrid have already committed more than €80 million to strengthening Diego Simeone’s squad after signing Kang In-Lee, Morten Hjulmand and Alejandro Grimaldo.

Those arrivals have increased the need for Atletico Madrid player sales, with the club needing to balance its books before registering new signings.
The original plan was to generate funds through the departures of Thiago Almada, Alexander Sørloth, Jose Maria Gimenez and Matteo Ruggeri.
However, Atletico Madrid transfers have not progressed as expected, leaving the club in a difficult position as the transfer market moves forward.
The most advanced deal involves Thiago Almada, with River Plate close to purchasing 50 per cent of the midfielder’s rights.
However, even if that agreement is completed, it is unlikely to solve Atletico Madrid’s financial problems on its own.
That is why Julian Alvarez’s Atletico Madrid future continues to attract so much attention.

Should outgoing transfers fail to materialise quickly enough, selling one of the club’s biggest assets could become the only realistic solution.
Barcelona refuses to change transfer strategy
While speculation continues to grow, Barcelona’s pursuit of Julian Alvarez has not altered the club’s negotiating stance.
The club’s transfer strategy remains unchanged despite Atletico’s complicated situation. In fact, the club feels the proposal already submitted represents fair value and have no intention of entering a bidding war.
Instead, the club is prepared to let circumstances work in their favour.
There is confidence that Atletico Madrid may eventually have little option but to reconsider Barcelona’s offer for Julian Alvarez if the club cannot complete enough outgoing transfers elsewhere.
As a result, the Barcelona summer transfer window could ultimately see Alvarez at Camp Nou.
