Genesis Scottish Open payouts: Tom Kim runs away at The Renaissance Club for first win since 2023

Tim Kim is a winner again at the perfect time.

Kim broke away from the field at The Renaissance Club to win the Genesis Scottish Open on Sunday night. It marked his first win since 2023, and came just days before the final major championship of the year kicks off at Royal Birkdale.

Kim posted a 6-under 64 in his final round on Sunday, which dropped him to 17-under on the week. He only had a single bogey in his final 51 holes of the tournament, too. That sent him to England with a $1.575 million check, which was part of the $9 million purse in the joint PGA Tour-DP World Tour event.

There were 15 players within just three shots of the lead when the third round was halted on Saturday due to weather, though Matt Fitzpatrick and Michael Thorbjornsen held a share of the lead. But quickly, Kim took off. 

He birdied three of his first seven holes of the final round, including the par-5 first, to jump out in front. Then a birdie at the 12th, his fifth, pushed his lead to three. Suddenly, the tournament that had a logjam at the top was in his full control.

While Min Woo Lee narrowed the gap briefly back to one, Kim birdied the 16th easily to take a two-shot lead into the final hole. That was more than enough to secure his win. 

Lee finished alone in second at 15-under on the week. Fitzpatrick and Robert MacIntyre led the group in a tie for third, though they were four shots back of Kim.

Scottie Scheffler, the top-ranked golfer in the world, missed the cut on Friday after a rough second round. It marked the first time since 2022 that he failed to make the cut at a Tour event. His 78 consecutive made cuts marks fifth on the Tour’s all-time list, and was the longest active streak on Tour.

The win was the fourth of Kim’s career, and his first since 2023. It was easily the biggest win of his career, too, and comes at the perfect time with the British Open up next week. Kim entered the week at No. 66 in the Official World Golf Rankings, and he finished in third at the U.S. Open last month — which was his only major championship start of the season. Kim finished in a tie for second at the British Open in 2023, but he missed the cut there in his last two starts. Kim had already qualified for this year’s British Open through his world ranking.
