Chicago White Sox’s 2026 draft: UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky picked No. 1

The Chicago White Sox selected UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky with the No. 1 pick of the MLB draft on Saturday.

Cholowsky, 21, slashed .320/.452/.636 with 21 home runs, 60 RBIs and 73 runs as a junior with the Bruins.

He was ranked the second-best prospect in the 2026 class, according to MLB.com.

Cholowsky is the third No. 1 pick in Sox history, joining Danny Goodwin in 1971 and Hall of Famer Harold Baines in 1977.
