Sadio Mané ends Senegal national team career

Former Africa Cup of Nations winner Sadio Mané has ended his Senegal national team career in the wake of their round of 32 exit from the World Cup.
Mané, 34, made the announcement to quit after 130 caps with 54 goals in a letter quoted by local daily Le Quotidien on Friday.

"I sacrificed everything for this flag. I gave the very best of myself and always fought fiercely for our homeland," the forward said.
He thanked the fans, saying: "Your constant support has been the driving force behind my success."
Senegal were eliminatecd from the World Cup 3-2 after extra time by Belgium last week.
Mané won the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal in 2022 and a number of club titles highlighted by the 2019 Champions League during his term at Liverpool and one season 2022-23 at Bayern Munich. He now plays in the Saudi Pro League at Al Nassr on a contract until 2027.
Mané said in the letter he plans to continue working for football in Senegal, either "within a coaching staff, on the bench as a coach, or within the governing bodies."
