Hornets GM addresses reporters after shocking offseason trades

Although the Hornets have yet to make any major free agent additions, Charlotte has been one of the most active teams in the trade market, dealing two of their longest-tenured players, Miles Bridges and LaMelo Ball, to the Suns and Timberwolves, respectively. The team also acquired Dorian Finney-Smith from the Houston Rockets, a defensive-minded wing; however, the chances he plays for the Hornets are slim.

Following these moves, Charlotte GM Jeff Peterson addressed the media, revealing the team's direction after their trade activity, which shocked many fans. "The goal's never been to get to the playoffs one time and then be out for seven to eight years and then try to get back again. It's always been about sustainability, and I think the roster we have will give us the best chance moving forward."
As of now, the Hornets' biggest additions have been Grayson Allen and Royce O'Neale, whom they received from the Suns, and recent first-round draft picks Hannes Steinbach and Christian Anderson Jr. If the team does part ways with Finney-Smith, they'll have one open roster spot to fill ahead of the 2026-27 season.
