Sir Harry Kane has a nice ring to it.

In many nations, that'd just be a phrase to use to address someone with immense politeness. In England, though, the word 'Sir' goes along with someone who has been knighted.

During the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the idea of "Sir Harry Kane" has circulated quite widely.

It raises one clear question.

Is Harry Kane knighted?

Kane is not knighted. Well, at least not yet.

There may be a movement to knight Kane, although it's hard to know the true sourcing of this viral post:

Kane is certainly working his way to legendary status in England.

Entering the Round of 16 against Mexico, Kane has scored 13 career World Cup goals, which moved him past Brazil legend Pele on the all-time list.

He also was a long-time superstar for Tottenham Hotspur in his homeland of North London before moving on to German giants Bayern Munich.

Are any England footballers knighted already?

A number of English footballing legends are knighted.

Bobby Charlton is likely the most famous -- he played for Manchester United and won the 1966 World Cup with England.

Kenny Dalglish and David Beckham have also been knighted, as part of a list of less than 20 footballers and managers overall.
