Tennessee added a defensive analyst to its coaching staff ahead of the 2026 football season. The Vols hired Josh Sinagoga from Michigan, according to John Brice of USA TODAY Sports.

He served as an offensive analyst for the Wolverines from 2023-26, winning a national championship in 2023.

Sinagoga went to Michigan from Youngstown State, serving as the Penguins' quarterbacks coach and recruiting coordinator (2022-23) and wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator (2020-21).

Prior to Youngstown State, he served as offensive quality control with quarterbacks at Cincinnati, an offensive graduate assistant at Iowa, an offensive graduate assistant and offensive quality control coach at Central Michigan and a graduate assistant at Northwood University.

2026 will mark the first season for the Vols under defensive coordinator Jim Knowles. He went to Tennessee after being Penn State's defensive coordinator in 2025 and in the same capacity at Ohio State from 2022-24.

Knowles will coach in the SEC for the first time since 2003. He served as linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator at Ole Miss under then-head coach David Cutcliffe.
