Boston Celtics NBA Cup group set for 2026 tournament

· Yahoo Sports

Some of the contours of the Boston Celtics schedule for the coming 2026-27 NBA regular season are starting to come into focus as the league announces the groupings for the Eastern and Western Conference teams for the 2026 NBA Cup games in the group play portion of the in-season tournament.

The Celtics will find themselves playing in the East C group for the NBA Cup this season, and they will have among East ball clubs the Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls, and Washington Wizards in their group as opponents. Friday, Dec. 4 and Saturday, Dec. 5 will see the group play their quarterfinals contests in the tourney, and Tuesday, Dec. 8 and/or Wednesday, Dec. 9 for the semifinals.

These games are to be played in their respective participating NBA team markets before the tourney ends with the Championship set to take place on Friday, December 11 at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

If that venue sounds familiar, it is where current Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens coached Butler before the Celtics hired him to replace Doc Rivers as head coach in 2013.

At least one of the NBA finals teams has played in each of the last two NBA Cup finals (with both finalists from 2026). Boston looks to have one of their easier paths to the knockout round this season, but much offseason teambuilding yet remains to be accomplished.
