Matheus Camilo: 'Intention' was name of the game during UFC Baku prep

Matheus Camilo picked up the biggest win of his career Saturday at UFC Fight Night 280, and he's not going to lie: It feels pretty damn good.
"I'm feeling very happy," Camilo said post-fight (via UFC). "I'm so happy right now. ... Many people talked about me and when I go in front of a crowd like that, it just motivates me more and more."

Camilo (11-3 MMA, 2-1) stormed into enemy territory in Baku, Azerbaijan and finished Nazim Sadykhov (11-3-1 MMA, 4-2-1 UFC) with strikes in 91 seconds. "Intention" was a focus word during training camp and in the locker room – and it translated to the fight.
"I worked on this a lot in the locker room – a lot, a lot. I knew he was going to come pressure," Camilo said. "If I stayed there and put my shots, he was not going to handle it. ... Intention. My camp was intention. Everything that I did was with intention. ... At the end of the camp, we started working with intention – everything. If I'm going to land with intention, why I land this hand. That's what happened."
It was surely a happy flight back to Nevada for the Las-Vegas-based Brazilian lightweight. He'll take a little breather and hope the UFC gets him back on the books for one more in 2026.
"I can't wait to be a world champion one day. I work a lot for this. It's just the beginning, and I can't wait for the future," Camilo said. "... I can't wait to fight again. I hope so, November. I'm ready. No injuries, no nothing, I'm healthy."
