Peter Skoronski's rise makes future extension a no-brainer for Titans

· Yahoo Sports

The Tennessee Titans have several important decisions looming in the coming years, but one may be easier than the rest. One they just made was making star defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons the highest-paid interior defensive lineman in NFL history.

Now, the Titans should set their sights on the opposite side of the ball, alongside the interior offensive line. Bleacher Report recently identified the most important contract extension for every NFL team ahead of the 2026 season, with guard Peter Skoronski as the choice for Tennessee.

Their assessment is absolutely correct. Since being drafted in the first round in 2023, Skoronski has steadily developed into one of the most reliable players on the Titans' roster. With the franchise entering a new era led by quarterback Cam Ward, keeping Skoronski in Nashville long-term should be one of the organization's top priorities.

Protecting Cam Ward Must Remain a Priority

The Titans selected Skoronski with the expectation that he would become a long-term fixture on the offensive line, and he has delivered. His growth has been especially important during a period of transition for the Titans.

Tennessee has undergone coaching changes, roster turnover, and a shift toward building around a young quarterback. Through it all, Skoronski has remained one of the most dependable pieces of the offense.

Titans General Manager Mike Borgonzi wasn't in charge when he was drafted, but mentioned it was a priority to extend him during an interview at the NFL Scouting Combine in February. At just 25 years old, Skoronski fits perfectly within Tennessee's long-term timeline and should remain a key part of the offense throughout Ward's prime years.
