For professional athletes, their bodies are literally their livelihoods. They hit the gym. They focus on their physique. It all impacts their performance on the field.

And yet, Iran's Mehdi Taremi had a goal taken away because his butt was slightly too big. An injustice if we've ever seen one.

During Sunday's World Cup Group G match between Iran and Belgium at Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium, Iran appeared to open up the scoring off a brilliantly executed set piece. Instead of going for goal off the free kick, Ehsan Hajsafi delivered a pass to Taremi who found the back of the net.

It was training-ground brilliance that had SoFi Stadium's majority Iranian crowd jumping. Then, VAR had to spoil it all.

After VAR, the goal was disallowed because Taremi's butt was in an offside position. Any body part that can legally play the ball has to be onside for a goal to stand, so it was the correct call because butt goals are indeed legal in the beautiful game.

Still, it feels unfair. Taremi shouldn't be penalized for not skipping glute day. Fans couldn't get over how hilarious the automated review graphic was for that call.

That ended up being the difference as Iran and Belgium played to a 0-0 draw.
