Trio charged in Markham extortion probe; Male, 16, nabbed for GTA break-ins

York Regional Police have charged three males from Toronto — aged 19, 17 and 16 — following an extortion investigation in Markham.

Cops said on Saturday, officers responded to a residence in the area of Prince William Dr. and Swansea Rd. after three masked suspects allegedly showed up at the home and demanded to speak with the victim.

When officers arrived, they located the trio in front of the residence and arrested them. Cops alleged that one suspect was found in possession of a replica firearm.

Through the investigation, it was determined that the incident was connected to an ongoing extortion and investigators believe that an individual was being targeted for a kidnapping.

Jerimyah Brown-Watson, 19, along with a 17-year-old male and a 16-year-old male, have all been charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, disguise with intent, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The investigation is ongoing.

Mississauga youth charged in York Region, GTA break-ins

York cops have charged a 16-year-old Mississauga male following an investigation into a series of commercial break-and-enters across York Region and the GTA.

In March 2026, York police, in partnership with Peel Regional Police, began an investigation into a series of break-and-enters across Vaughan where the lone suspect forced entry into businesses overnight, targeting safes and cash.

Through the investigation, officers identified the suspect.

On June 11, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in Mississauga and the suspect was arrested. Officers said they located a replica firearm believed to have been used during the break-ins and recovered a stolen vehicle.

The accused has been charged with four counts each of break and enter commit and mischief under $5,000, three counts of fail to comply with release order and two counts each of theft over $5,000, disguise with intent and possession of property obtained by crime.

At the time of the offences, the accused was bound by a release order.

The investigation is ongoing.
