OKC Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander announced Tuesday on Instagram that he has made the move from Converse to Nike.

Gilgeous-Alexander originally signed with Converse in 2020 and became the creative director of the brand’s basketball department in 2024. He then released his first signature sneaker, the SHAI 001, this past September.

Converse is a subsidiary of Nike, which boasts a stacked roster of signature athletes. Gilgeous-Alexander now joins fellow superstars such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

It’s an exclusive club for someone who has solidified himself as an elite basketball player. Gilgeous-Alexander led OKC to its first championship in franchise history two seasons ago and recently won a second straight Most Valuable Player award.

Nike said in statement: "We are thrilled to welcome Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to the Nike Basketball signature family. Coming after back-to-back MVP seasons, we are excited to build on Shai's incredible impact with Converse as one of the most creative leaders in the game."
