The Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V Somanna conducted a review meeting with Chief Administrative Officer Ajay Sharma and senior railway officials of Constructon, SWR to assess the progress of ongoing and proposed railway infrastructure projects in Bengaluru and Tumakuru Lok Sabha constituency. The review covered works under Bengaluru and Mysuru Divisions, including Road Over Bridges (ROBs), Road Under Bridges (RUBs), Foot Over Bridges (FOBs), and key new railway line projects.

A total of 32 ROB and RUB works are being executed in tumakru loksabha constituency to improve public connectivity and safety. Several major ROB works at Panditanahalli, Maidala, Baddihalli, Batavadi, Heggere, Mallasandra, Benchegere, Nittur–Mysuru, Nandihalli Gate, and key crossings on BH Road towards Hassan and Bidiregudi are progressing at various stages. The Minister directed officials to ensure completion of these works within the targeted timelines of 2026–27.

The meeting also noted the successful completion and opening of multiple RUBs and pedestrian subways, including those at Hale Shettihalli Gate, Bandihalli Road Gate, Donnere Gate, D. Rampura Gate, and Badenahalli Gate. Instructions were issued to expedite commissioning of ROBs/RUBs and Foot Over Bridges at the earliest.

Significant progress was reviewed in two major new railway line projects:

The Tumakuru–Chitradurga–Davangere (191 km) project, being executed at an estimated cost of ₹1,801 crore under a 50:50 cost-sharing model with the Government of Karnataka, has achieved over 92% land acquisition. The Urukere–Thimmarajanahalli section (13.31 km) has completed CRS inspection and is ready for commissioning. Other sections are under active execution, with the entire project targeted for completion by February 2028.

The Tumakuru–Rayadurg (206 km) new line project, estimated at ₹2,496 crore, will connect Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Of this, 83 km has already been commissioned. The Tumakuru–Urukere section has completed CRS inspection, while the Pavagada–Dodda Halli section is ready for inauguration. Remaining sections are progressing well, with land acquisition nearing completion at over 97%.

The Minister emphasized the need for close coordination with the State Government and district administration to expedite residual land acquisition, obtain timely approvals for road closures and diversions, and address utility shifting issues involving power lines, water pipelines, and forest clearances.

The Minister highlighted the importance of these projects, noting that improved rail connectivity in Bengaluru and Tumakuru is expected to support industrial growth, trade, and overall regional development. He directed that timely completion remains a key priority and expressed that all efforts should be made to avoid delays.
