This series will focus on specific players. The Sixers have a first-round pick thanks to the Jared McCain trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder via the Houston Rockets. After a trip to Round 2 of the playoffs, the Sixers have an opportunity to add to the roster and get themselves another talented young piece around Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe for the future.

Next up in this series is Texas Tech guard Christian Anderson:

Strengths

Anderson is one of the better shooters in this draft as he shot 41.5% from deep in the 2025-26 season. He scores well off the dribble, which shows off his elite shot creation, and he is fantastic in isolation situations. He is a maestro with the ball in his hands as he averaged 18.5 points and 7.4 assists with the Red Raiders and showed off a lot of his skill in a number of ways. He also averaged 3.6 rebounds per game, which is a solid showing when considering he's listed at only 6-foot-2.

The off-the-dribble shot making and the playmaking are going to make him attractive to Philadelphia if he's there at 22. He moves with intention as he looks to get to his spots and convert on his open looks. He isn't afraid with the basketball, which is going to be a key attribute at the next level, and he will be a reliable ball-handler both as somebody as a floor general as well as a scorer. The Sixers need somebody of that ilk off the bench unit and Anderson brings it.

Weaknesses

The aforementioned height of 6-foot-2 will hinder Anderson at times on the defensive end of the floor. He will also need to get in the weight room and get stronger in order to make any type of impact on that end as he will be bullied a bit in the early going of his NBA career. He can be hidden a bit defensively if he can take on similar point guards with his build as he can match up with his quickness and ability to get steals. Another area of concern is his tendency to rely on his jumper a bit too much. He can knock down 3s at a high rate, but he isn't much of a driver, which limits his shot diet a bit.

Potential fit on the Sixers

Plain and simple, the Sixers need help off the bench. While backup big man is probably the bigger need, they absolutely need another ball-handler for the second unit. Philadelphia needs somebody who is going to stabilize that unit and give the Sixers somebody who is going to score the ball in a pinch and Anderson fills that need. He would be a terrific option at pick No. 22 if he is there on the board.
