There's still plenty of time for DJ Moore to get acclimated to the Buffalo Bills.

In the early going after the trade from the Chicago Bears, though, things aren't perfect.

Moore admitted there are "growing pains" in learning the Buffalo system.

“It’s going good,” Moore told the Buffalo News. “I mean, it’s gonna be perfect later on, but right now it’s still growing pains.”

His optimism is encouraging, and there's no reason to doubt him. When Moore switched teams from the Carolina Panthers to the Chicago Bears, he became one of the league's most effective receivers in that first season in the Windy City.

Moore is older now, but he's going to be relied upon as the Bills' WR1, and so he'll have to keep working to figure things out and maximize his role.

The Bills gave up a second-round pick to get Moore, which was viewed by many as a steep price.

The reality is Buffalo felt it had to do it. The wide receiver group wasn't good enough for Josh Allen in 2025.

Khalil Shakir remains a reliable slot receiver, but Keon Coleman and Joshua Palmer were both letdowns on the outside.

The Bills drafted UConn's Skyler Bell in the middle rounds, and he has potential, but the only guy on the roster who has been an NFL No. 1 WR is Moore. That's what he'll have to be.

Growing pains come with things that are a work in progress. The hope for Buffalo will be that by the time Week 1 rolls around, Moore is fully formed in Joe Brady's offense. If he is, it can be a big addition for the Bills.
