CR Running Staff assist safe delivery of baby boy in LTT-Dibrugarh Express

In a heartwarming display of promptness and compassion, Central Railway Running staff along with the help of passengers, helped a pregnant passenger safely deliver a baby boy on board Train No. 15945 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Dibrugarh Express between Bhusaval and Itarsi on 30th May 2026.

The incident occurred when a passenger named Ravi Chaudhary approached S. P. Phirke, Train Conductor & Ambreesh Kumar Tiwari, Train Ticket Examiner, Bhusaval, at around 5:25 pm for help since his wife named Jyoti had gone into sudden and severe labour pain and her condition was deteriorating.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Running Staff team immediately sprang into action. A clean and safe space was arranged in the gallery of Coach B-6 using blankets and bedsheets, and the expectant mother was made comfortable.

At 5:28 PM, the on-duty staff alerted Bhopal Control, requesting urgent medical assistance including a doctor and ambulance at Harda station. The control room promptly assured that medical help would be kept ready at Harda.

Meanwhile, the Running Staff team, with the assistance of fellow women passengers helped the woman deliver a healthy baby boy at approximately 5:40 pm while the train was still running. The cries of the newborn brought joy and relief to all passengers in the coach.

The train arrived at Harda station at 6:07 pm, where RPF personnel, Station Staff, a woman constable, and helpers were ready with medical support. As the umbilical cord was yet to be cut, the mother and newborn were immediately shifted to the hospital for further medical care. Both mother and baby are reported to be safe and stable.

The timely action, sensitivity, and presence of mind shown by Central Railway staff once again proved that Indian Railways is not only committed to taking passengers to their destinations but also stands by them as a pillar of support in times of crisis.
