Tomb brings home the gold for Allen at state meet

ALLEN — Emma Tomb saved her best jump for last.
The Allen High School senior captured the Class A state championship in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 11.75 inches. It was a tight battle at the top, as Lilly Johnson of Timberlake finished runner-up at 16-11.25 and Kylie Dooney placed third at 16-10.75.

Allen junior Kayla Nickell also earned a spot on the podium in the long jump, finishing fourth with a mark of 16-0.5.
The Lady Mustangs scored 19.5 team points and placed 15th overall. Thomas Fay-Custer claimed the team championship with 88 points, while Medford was second with 61.
Tomb also turned in strong performances in the high jump and 200-meter dash. She cleared 5 feet even in the high jump to tie for fifth place. Jenna Schmidt of Garber won the event with a jump of 5-4.
In the 200-meter dash, Tomb finished eighth with a time of 27.09. Micah Wilson of Oklahoma Bible Academy won the gold in 25.41.
Allen speedster Gavin Hamilton performed well in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash.
In the 100-meter dash, Hamilton finished fourth with a time of 11.19. Nash Harman of Cyril won that event in 10.88.
In the 200, Hamilton placed fifth with a time of 22.58. He narrowly trailed River Thompson of Cyril, who was fourth in 22.56, and Chris Addy of Tipton, who was third in 22.55.
Allen senior Quintin Box added a sixth-place finish in the pole vault after clearing 12 feet. Joseph Schroeder of Okeene won the state championship with a mark of 14 feet.
Hamilton entered the state meet as the regional champion in both the 100 and 200, while Box claimed the regional title in the pole vault.
