Kentucky baseball gets a huge series opening win against Arkansas

The final weekend of the 2026 regular season is a big one for the Kentucky Wildcats baseball team. After a red hot start, the Cats struggled in SEC play, and found themselves firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble heading into their series against a top ten Arkansas team and in need of a win or two.

On Thursday, they opened up the series with a huge win, and one that might put them over the top and into the postseason field. They jumped out to a 4-1 lead, and then held on late to get the game one victory, 4-3.
Ethan Hindle's two-run homerun in the first inning was the biggest hit of the game. He had three hits on the day with two RBIs and two runs scored. Tyler Bell added a hit and a run scored as well. Braxton Van Cleave scored a pivotal run in the fourth on a throwing error.
Nate Harris got the start for Kentucky and was solid over his three innings. Jack Sams got his second win of the year by going 1.2 innings and giving up just one run. Jaxon Jelkin, normally a starter, earned a save by pitching the final two innings.
The win is Kentucky's 13th of the season, which historically has meant a trip to the NCAA Tournament. They'd love to take the series against the Razorbacks, though. Game two is on Friday night at 6:30 P.M. ET.
