However, the Crimson Tide awaits a final update on star shortstop Justin Lebron following its 8-3 opener win against the Gamecocks.

"Credit Bron man, he's busting his tail down the line like he always does." Alabama coach Rob Vaughn said told Crimson Tide Sports Network after the game.

Vaughn described the seventh inning hit as "nasty." South Carolina's Will Craddock clotheslined Lebron while trying to make a tag at first base, sending Lebron face-first to the ground, where he was tended to by trainers.

After he eventually rejoined teammates and coaches, Vaughn said that Lebron "felt fine." After coming into contact with Craddock, Lebron recovered enough to eventually advance to third base, where coaching staff decided to pull him from competition.

"Kind of rung his bell a bit, but he felt okay," Vaughn continued.

Despite how Lebron may have felt coming off the field, though, Vaughn knows that staff has to "be smart" with concussion protocol and the rules surrounding them.

"I haven't even gotten with Sean (Stryker) yet to find out what his status is, but I'll found out shortly," Vaughn said.
