Driver, 36, fighting for his life after two-vehicle crash in Scarborough

A man was left fighting for his life after he was hurled from his car during a two-vehicle collision in Scarborough late Friday.

Toronto Police say officers responded to the crash at Lawrence Ave. E. and Markham Rd. Around 11:15 p.m.

“It is reported that an 18-year-old male was operating a white 2018 Toyota Camry westbound on Lawrence Ave. E. approaching Markham Rd.,” police said in a statement released Saturday.

“A 36-year-old male was operating a grey 2015 Lexus ES 300 eastbound on Lawrence Ave. E.,” police added.

Lexus driver turning left into plaza when crash unfolded

Police explained that the driver of the Lexus was making a left hand turn into a plaza when his car collided with the Toyota.

“The driver of the Lexus was ejected from the vehicle,” police said.

Police said the driver of the Toyota was transported to hospital with serious injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.

The driver of the Lexus, however, was rushed to hospital with “life-threatening-injuries.”

Investigation is ongoing

Police have not announced any charges and no further details were immediately available.

“The investigation is ongoing by members of Traffic Services,” police said.
