Kolkata Knight Riders held their nerve to beat Lucknow Super Giants in a tense Super Over at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday. Both teams finished on 155 in their 20 overs, but Sunil Narine made the difference in the decider.

Bowling the Super Over, Narine dismissed Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram to restrict LSG to just one run - the lowest Super Over total.

KKR chased the target of two runs on the first ball, with Rinku Singh hitting a boundary. He also had a great day in the field, taking four catches.

Rinku’s knock lifts KKR, Mohsin stars with ball

Earlier, Rinku’s unbeaten 83 off 51 balls helped KKR post 155 for seven.

For LSG, Mohsin Khan was outstanding with the ball, picking up 5 for 23. He removed key players like Ajinkya Rahane, Tim Seifert, Cameron Green, Rovman Powell and Anukul Roy.

Despite losing wickets regularly, KKR finished strong as Rinku attacked in the final overs to take the total past 150.

LSG lose way after good start

Chasing 156, LSG were in a good position at one stage. Rishabh Pant (42) and Markram (31) added 57 runs after the early wicket of Mitchell Marsh.

But things changed quickly. Markram got out to a slower ball from Green, while Pant was caught trying an attacking shot against Narine.

Young players like Ayush Badoni and Himmat Singh tried to keep the chase alive. In the last over, LSG needed 17 runs. Two no-balls from Kartik Tyagi helped their cause, but he also picked up a wicket.

In the end, Mohammed Shami hit a six off the final ball to take the match into a Super Over.

Strange dismissal adds drama

There was also an unusual moment during KKR’s innings. Angkrish Raghuvanshi was given out for obstructing the field.

He got in the way of a throw from Shami while trying to complete a run. After a review, the third umpire ruled him out, making it a rare dismissal.

Standings

With this win, KKR moved to eighth place with five points.

LSG slipped to the bottom of the table with four points.
