Texas State vs Southern Miss baseball: Live scoring updates, how to watch Friday's game

· Yahoo Sports

Texas State baseball opens a road series Friday against Southern Miss, the most consequential three-game stretch of the season thus far.

The Bobcats are second in the Sun Belt standings, one game ahead of the Golden Eagles. With a series against first-place Coastal Carolina looming next weekend, Texas State needs at least one win to keep pace with Southern Miss in the rankings.

Following a Tuesday win over Houston Christian, Texas State head coach Steven Trout announced there would be a change in the weekend rotation. Pitchers Cade Smith and Wade Cooper have replaced Kyle Froehlich and Sam Hall. The Bobcats' starting pitchers struggled in the last series, and Trout is turning to his two best relievers in hopes they can better support their explosive offense. Cooper will pitch Friday, Smith gets Saturday and there is currently no starter listed for Sunday.
