Kaizer Chiefs coach sends strong message after Galaxy win

· The South African

It was another controlled performance from Kaizer Chiefs, who managed the big moments well and took their chances when it mattered.

Flavio Da Silva opened the scoring before Glody Lilepo wrapped it up late on, finishing calmly after catching the Galaxy defence exposed. At the back, Amakhosi looked solid and never really allowed the visitors a way back into the game.

KAIZER CHIEFS WARNED AGAINST COMPLACENCY

The result continues a strong turnaround for Chiefs, who have quietly built momentum after a difficult spell earlier in the season. Wins over Durban City, Magezi and Orbit College had already pushed them into third place, and this latest victory strengthens their grip on a CAF Confederation Cup spot.

Despite the good run, Kaze says the message inside the camp is clear, don’t relax.

“We need to keep pressure, pressure on everyone, in training, out training to recover well, sleep early and pull in the same direction, the message must be consistent, we can’t relax, we need to be better everyday, concentrate in every training session, it’s the only thing that will keep us in a good space,” he said.

Kaze also pointed to the return of key players as a big reason behind the improvement. With more players available again, competition for places has increased, and that is raising the level across the squad.

“We couldn’t keep the same line-up [during that bad run], the players who were injured who are back are creating more competition, Mayo, Ox, Ethan, Given, Bradley are all back, having more choices makes the team better in all ways,” Kaze added.

Chiefs showed that depth again on Sunday, with players like Ethan Chislett coming off the bench to help see out the result.

With four wins in a row and confidence growing, Amakhosi are now in a strong position in the race for a top-three finish, and if they keep this level, CAF football next season is firmly within reach.
