The girls basketball season in the Greater Savannah area featured a number of talented teams and players who made an impact with impressive performances.

Bradwell Institute was the best team in the area under Faye Baker, the veteran coach who lead the Tigers to the Class 5A state quarterfinals where they lost to River Ridge and ended the season with a 28-1 record.

Baker was named the Savannah Morning News Girls Basketball Coach of the Year.

Jenkins had another strong season as the Warriors reached the second round of the Class 3A playoffs after winning their second straight Region 3-3A crown.

Memorial Day had an unforgettable run as the Matadors became the first girls team in school history to win a state title as they dominated en route to winning a GIAA Class A state crown.

We recently published the All-Greater Savannah Girls Basketball team.

Now readers have a chance to select their top player in a poll with no restrictions on the voting. The poll will close on Monday, April 20th, at 10 a.m.

The winner of the poll is not necessarily the winner of the the Coastal Empire Girls Basketball Player of the Year honor, which will be announced at the Coastal Empire High School Sports Awards Show, set for June 5th on at the Savannah Convention Center.
