Endrick left Real Madrid in the winter to join Olympique Lyon on loan in a move that created a lot of debate in the Spanish capital after his debut in France.

Having scored in his first-ever game with his new club, he followed it up with an assist and a hat-trick in his next two games, and several sources in the Spanish media called out the Real Madrid board for letting the striker leave.

Since then, however, Endrick’s output has progressively reduced to a point where it is now at a serious low.

World Cup spot in danger

Endrick was called up by Carlo Ancelotti for Brazil’s games in the recent international break and made a strong statement coming off the bench against Croatia. However, his form at the club level could cost him heavily as relayed by SPORT.

Ancelotti has no dearth of options in attack for the Brazilian national team with even star forward Neymar finding it difficult to have a spot in the World Cup squad. In such a situation, Endrick’s place is in danger as well.

The youngster’s form in front of the goal has been poor in recent times and he has now failed to score in eight consecutive games. His last goal across all competitions, moreover, came back in early March against Celta Vigo.

Should the striker not improve his performances and output, he may well lose out on his spot at the World Cup which will come as a massive blow.

He is in the running, but must make a conscious effort and show improvement to convince Ancelotti that he deserves a place in the team.

Such an effort, needless to say, will also go a long way in pushing Real Madrid to hand him a bigger role next season.
