Cops seek suspects in Church-Wellesley assault

Two unidentified male suspects are being sought in an assault investigation in the Church-Wellesley neighbhourhood.  

Toronto Police said officers responded on Saturday at 12:22 a.m. for an assault in the Church and Alexander Sts. area.

Cops said the victim was walking down the street when a vehicle drove by and two suspects yelled homophobic slurs toward the victim.  

The suspects then parked the vehicle nearby and assaulted the victim before fleeing the scene in a dark-coloured sedan.  

The first suspect is described as 6 feet with a thin build. He was wearing black clothing and a black ski mask.  

The second suspect is described as 5-foot-9 with a thin build. He was wearing all black clothing and a black ski mask.

Waterloo Regional Police probe hate-motivated assault

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a hate-motivated assault in Waterloo.

Cops said on Sunday around 2:25 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance call at a business in the King St. N.-Columbia St. E. area.

Police said there was a verbal altercation between the victim and a group of about six unknown males. Cops said the altercation escalated and the group assaulted the victim before fleeing prior to police arrival.

Police determined the incident to be hate-motivated.

The suspects fled the area in two vehicles described as a black Acura SUV and a white Honda Civic.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Man, 60, charged in four commercial robberies in Kitchener

A 60-year-old man has been charged in connection with four commercial robberies at multiple businesses in Kitchener.

Waterloo Regional Police said on March 29 around 7 p.m., the male suspect attended a business in the area of Belmont Ave. and Glasgow St. The suspect confronted a store employee while brandishing a knife and demanded cash. The suspect fled the area. No items were stolen and no physical injuries were reported.

On April 4, at approximately 9:55 p.m., the same male suspect attended a business in the area of Belmont Ave. W. and Glasgow St. The suspect allegedly confronted a store employee while brandishing a knife and demanding cash from the register. The employee began calling police, at which time the suspect fled the area. No items were stolen and no physical injuries were reported.

Later that evening, around 10:45 p.m., the suspect attended another business in the area of King and Andrew Sts. area. The suspect allegedly confronted a store employee while brandishing a knife and demanding cash. Security staff intervened and the suspect fled the area. No items were stolen and no physical injuries were reported.

At about 10:50 p.m., the suspect attended another business in the same area. The suspect allegedly confronted a store employee while brandishing a knife and stole a cash register containing cash before fleeing the area. No physical injuries were reported.

Police identified, located, and arrested the male, who was charged with four counts of robbery with a weapon, four counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, four counts of disguise with intent, uttering threats, and possession of an identity document.
