Now, the stakes get even higher.
The Bears will face the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday with a trip to the championship game on the line. Tipoff is set for 12:30 p.m. in what promises to be a marquee matchup.
There’s also a major financial incentive. A win over Oklahoma would move Baylor within one victory of a $300,000 NIL prize, while even a loss guarantees the Bears $50,000.
Head coach Scott Drew knows the challenge ahead will be anything but easy.
“Well, Oklahoma’s team that we’re very familiar with. I think their athleticism, they got a lot of athletic players that defensively that back half of conference really did a great job keeping the ball out of the paint, make people shoot over their length,” said Drew. “And then offensively, their backcourt is as good as anyone in the SEC and the front line with their athleticism shows why they were successful.”
