Draft analyst calls 2026 prospect 'a thick version' of Kyren Williams

Many teams will be looking to try to find their version of Kyren Williams in the 2026 NFL draft. Not necessarily a carbon copy of the Los Angeles Rams' starting running back, but a player who could take on that role after being drafted late.

Well, The Ringer's Danny Kelly may have found a similar version of Williams in the 2026 draft. On an episode of Mina Kimes' podcast, Kelly compared Washington running back Jonah Coleman to "a thick version" of the Williams. Coleman is 5-foot-8 and 220 pounds, while Williams is 5-foot-9 and 207 pounds.

"I remember Kyren [Williams] coming out — you could swap over everything we said [about Williams onto Coleman]. He's good in pass pro. He's like the best pass protector in the draft. He's good in the receiving game. He's just slow," Kelly said of Coleman. "There's plenty of worlds where Coleman doesn't do anything in the NFL, we forget about him in two years. [But] if he gets matched up with the right coach in the right scheme, I think he could be a very productive runner in the NFL. But again, it's just kind of like there's a million like versions of this where he just kind of gets buried quickly and never emerges."

Coleman rushed 477 times for 2,682 yards and 30 touchdowns over the past three seasons — two at Washington and one at Arizona in 2023. He also caught 79 receptions for 814 yards and three scores during that span.

The Rams may draft a running back, but it would be a surprise if they took another version of Williams in the first two days of the draft. Williams and Blake Corum are already a solid duo, and the team is hopeful the Jarquez Hunter will turn into an explosive playmaker in his second second.

But, if another team likes how the Rams incorporate a running back with build of Williams, Coleman might be a solid choice for them.
