The reason came down to a familiar but critical step in the process. And Jones made it clear he fully understood the decision. For him, it was simply part of doing business in the league.

Jerry Jones backs Ravens decision on Maxx Crosby trade

Speaking in comments shared by Ari Meirov, Jones explained why the Ravens’ move made sense.

“It’s pretty simple for me. There’s no hidden agenda. You’ve got to pass a physical, and we’ve never completed an agreement until the player passes it,” Jones said.

He added: “That includes your doctors, your trainers, everybody involved gets to take a look, and that goes with the territory.”

The Ravens’ decision reportedly came after concerns during Crosby’s medical evaluation, which is a standard requirement before finalizing any trade.

Jones emphasized that no deal is ever complete until that step is cleared. It is a safeguard teams rely on to protect long-term investments. In that context, Baltimore’s decision aligns with league-wide practice.

Dallas Cowboys were also in the mix for the Maxx Crosby trade

Jones also revealed that Dallas had interest in Crosby and would have evaluated him under the same conditions.

“We would have looked at the same conditions with the physical, and, as you know, we were in on making an offer for him. He would have come to Dallas, and we can only guess what would have happened,” Jones continued.

“I don’t anticipate standing here right now revisiting that situation. I don’t anticipate it,” the Cowboys owner concluded.

The Cowboys’ involvement shows how significant the potential move was across the league. However, once the medical concerns surfaced, the situation quickly shifted.

Jones’ comments suggest Dallas would have followed the same protocol, reinforcing how crucial physical evaluations are in high-profile trades.
