Rams' Puka Nacua in rehab following alleged biting incident

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua has entered rehab, his attorney Levi McCathern told The California Post on April 1.

McCathern revealed Nacua was being treated at a luxury treatment center in Malibu. He explained that the 24-year-old receiver's stay is "to improve his overall behavior in every aspect of his life that he can do it."

The lawyer also clarified that while a March lawsuit filed against Nacua by a woman – who accused him of biting her, causing injury, pain and suffering and accused him of making an antisemitic comment on Dec. 31, 2025 – was a "contributing factor" in him entering rehab, his decision was not directly tied to the civil proceedings.

"He was in there a substantial period of time before any of these allegations broke," McCathern told the California Post, "and he’s scheduled to be there for a while longer."

Nacua, through McCathern, has denied Atiabi's allegations "in the strongest terms." And McCathern told USA TODAY Sports in March that they are planning to file a defamation lawsuit against the woman.

The matter also is under review with the city attorney's office, according to Ivor Pine, the Deputy Director of Communications. Los Angeles City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto will decide whether or not to file criminal charges.

McCathern also spoke with NFL Network reporter Steve Wyche, who posted a quote from the lawyer on social media.

"He will complete the program in time to fully participate in all of the Rams OTAs," McCathern said. "Puka is also deeply grateful for the support he has received from his family, friends, coach [Sean] McVay, and teammates."

The Rams have not yet commented on the report of Nacua entering rehab. McVay first addressed the allegations against the receiver in an interview at the NFL's annual meeting on March 30.

"You guys know, I trust this kid’s heart," McVay said, per ProFootballTalk. "Love him, put your arm around him, want to continue to help him grow. And, really, get all the appropriate facts before I rush to judgment on that particular situation. But I will say, knowing this guy for three years, is I do trust his heart. I trust the human being. And I want to be able to put my arm around him."
