Bhopal News: Government Schools’ Heroic Feat, Record Zero Dropout Rate

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The dropout rate in government schools has been reduced to zero, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said while launching the state-level admission festival under the School Chale Hum campaign on Wednesday.

Addressing students, Yadav said new enrolments increased by 19% in the state of which government schools recorded a surge of over 36%. “Children are leaving private schools to enrol in Sandipani institutions equipped with libraries, playgrounds and high-tech labs,” he said.
To support students, four lakh bicycles will be distributed to ease their commute. The state has also introduced a scooty scheme especially for girl students and recruited nearly 76,000 teachers to strengthen the education system. The government has set a target of enrolling 1.45 crore students this year.
The campaign also marks the beginning of the 2026-27 academic session. During the event, the chief minister showered flower petals on students and distributed bicycles in the presence of state school education minister Uday Pratap Singh and other members.
The school education department has launched a structured drive to boost enrolments, bring back out-of-school children and promote a positive learning environment. Officials have been directed to implement the campaign effectively from the state to the village level.
The campaign includes a series of activities including distribution of free textbooks and special meals on the first day, motivational sessions by achievers on the second day and cultural and sports events with parent participation on April 3. Parents of students with over 85% attendance will be honoured.
