It’ll be a familiar matchup in the Final Four for the 35-1 UCLA Bruins. For the second time this season, UCLA will be facing Madison Booker and the Texas Longhorns, this time for a chance in the national championship game.

Texas made light work of Michigan

Texas throttled Michigan 77-41 on Monday in the Elite Eight to face the Bruins. Of course it’s Texas who gave the Bruins their only loss of the season in Las Vegas back in November. It was a terrible showing for UCLA, who played their worst half of basketball for their entire season against the Longhorns.

UCLA played awful against the Longhorns earlier this season

UCLA trailed 45-25 at halftime but Cori Close’s team battled back in the second half, getting the deficit down to four points before eventually falling 76-65. Since then the Bruins haven’t lossed but Texas did pose some serious matchup issues.

Don't let Rori Harmon get in Harmony

Longhorns guard Rori Harmon led the game with 26 points. Harmon is a quick 5’6” guard, while Close can put either Kiki Rice or Charlisse Leger-Walker on Harmon, neither Bruin can match Harmon’s elite quickness.

Madison Booker is a tough cover for anybody

Texas’ leading scorer is another tough cover for UCLA. 6’1” Madison Booker is a silky smooth scorer from all three levels who’s put up 19.1 points per game this season. UCLA’s Gabriela Jaquez or Gianna Kneepkens can match Booker’s height, the Longhorns junior has more power to her game.

Better from Betts

The game against Texas was a low-point this season for Lauren Betts. Betts scored only eight points on 4-8 shooting. To get the Final Four win, the Bruins will need a more impactful Betts. Betts has been playing the best basketball of her season in the NCAA tournament, the Bruins need that to continue.

Close and the Bruins will have the entire week to prep for the Longhorns before the highly anticipated rematch versus Texas on Friday in Phoenix.
