In October of 2025, after playing in five games, Hamlin suffered a pectoral injury in practice that would eventually require surgery and cut his season short. Hamlin will now return to the Bills on a one-year deal and join recently signed safeties C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Geno Stone.
A 2021 sixth-round pick, Hamlin began his career as a Bills backup and special teams player. He had opportunities to start in 2022 due to injuries, including the Jan. 2, 2023, Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals, during which Hamlin experienced cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated on the field.
He would recover and return to football in 2023, and in 2024, he would again earn the starting safety spot.
The incident Hamlin experienced has helped raise awareness about sports-related health and cardiac events. Hamlin has also raised awareness of heart health by using the knowledge gained about AEDs and CPR.
His Chasing M's Foundation received millions in the aftermath of his cardiac event.
