“These missed appointments contribute directly to longer waiting times,” the City said, adding that the issue is one of the main causes of backlogs at testing centres.

To improve transparency and assist residents with planning, the City has published updated waiting times for driver’s licence testing across its 18 centres, as of 23 March 2026.
While waiting periods vary by location, the City of Cape Town said it continues to monitor demand and adjust operations where possible.
