Bucs make unique pick in NFL Free agency mock draft

The 2026 NFL Draft will take place in Pittsburgh in April, a city that could be where the Bucs select the next star they add to their roster in hopes of righting the proverbial ship. Before April, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup for the team and who they may add to the roster through the draft.

Thankfully, we now have some added context for players now that the scouting combine has come and gone.

The Draft Network's Keith Sanchez recently released the latest 2026 NFL mock draft of the cycle, which has the team focusing on a position they don't need to in most cases. He has the Bucs drafting USC wide receiver Makai Lemon after the team lost Mike Evans in free agency.

Sanchez explains the Lemon pick, writing, "The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost Mike Evans in free agency to the 49ers, and Chris Godwin is no longer a sure thing. To seek a replacement and add to this room, the Buccaneers draft USC WR Makai Lemon. Lemon, paired with Emeka Egbuka and Jalen McMillan, should give Tampa Bay a good young WR trio for the next few years."

Lemon is considered one of the best offensive talents in the draft, regardless of position. However, the pick seems a bit rich considering what the team has need wise on defense at the moment. However, if they move on from Chris Godwin as well, then this pick would make more sense.
