The University announced that a public visitation is scheduled Sunday, March 15, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Basilica. Mourners from the extended Notre Dame family and the local community are invited to pay their respects during the evening. A funeral mass will follow at 1 p.m. Monday, March 16, in the Basilica, with seating on a first-come, first-served basis and additional viewing locations set in Washington Hall and Purcell Pavillion at the Joyce Center.

Following the liturgy, Holtz’s family will lead a funeral procession from Notre Dame Circle to the main entrance of Cedar Grove Cemetary. At the request of the Holtz family, graveside services will be private only.

Holtz coached the Irish from 1986 to 1996, compiling a 100-30-2 record and cementing his legacy with the program’s most recent national title. He entered the College Football Hall of Fame and has always been an ambassador for the program long after his career ended.

For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed on the University’s website.
