NFC West Watch: Chiefs trade CB Trent McDuffie to Los Angeles Rams
· Yahoo Sports
The Seattle Seahawks proved they were the kings of the league last season during their Super Bowl LX run. Now, they are becoming the hunted, as their dominance is kicking off an arms race in the NFC West. As the new league year approaches, Seattle's arch rivals - the Los Angeles Rams - have made a splash move. On Wednesday morning, it was announced the Rams have acquired cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs.
Los Angeles traded their first round pick (No. 29 overall), as well as their fifth and sixth rounders for this year, and a 2027 third rounder to obtain McDuffie's services.

This is now the second time in McDuffie's career it has cost a team a first round pick to get him. Originally the No. 21 overall pick of the 2022 NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs, McDuffie immediately proved himself worthy of such a lofty selection. He has started all 56 games in his career he's been available for, has been an All-Pro, and is a two-time Super Bowl champion.
The Rams are immediately addressing one of their fatal flaws from last season, which was a leaky secondary. Adding a player of McDuffie's caliber provides an immediate upgrade, and is a direct response to attempting to slow down Seahawks star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
As I mentioned at the beginning of this article, there is an arms race developing in the NFC West. The Rams may have made the first move, but don't count on the Seahawks to merely rest on their laurels. John Schneider is a two-time Super Bowl champion himself because he never settles when it comes to roster construction.
