A few teams have spoken with Fernando Mendoza at this year's combine. But only one of them is expected to get him -- the Las Vegas Raiders.

The star QB prospect and expected top pick met with the Raiders and he was asked about that experience during his press conference at the combine on Friday.

"I was lucky enough to have a formal interview with the Las Vegas Raiders. It was a fantastic interview. The coaching staff was in there. We went over some of my previous plays, drew up some plays on the board. I thought it was a great meeting. I know they have the prospective number one pick, but anything can happen in the draft and I'm just excited for the opportunity and whatever team drafts me I'm going to give everything I've got to them."

He later described the Raiders coaching staff from the interview.

"They're very football savvy. Which is great to see," said Mendoza. "They taught me a play and they had their whole progression of how to teach their quarterbacks to play and it was very similar to how my Indiana progression was. I'm a very Type A guy and they had all the details of each play -- what to do if you get a problem with each play, what's the drop, what's the progression -- and that's something that I really enjoy."

Mendoza went on to say whatever team drafts him, he's grateful "whether it's the number one pick or the 199th pick". Notable that 199 is the best where Raiders minority owner Tom Brady was drafted.

While Brady wasn't at the interview himself, but Mendoza noted that he got to speak with him over the phone briefly as he entered the room.

"When I walked into the formal interview for the Raiders I was able to say a brief 'Hi' to Brady on the phone and that was very special to me. And I look forward to maybe meeting him in person one day and learning from him."

"Who hasn't admired Tom Brady," Mendoza said of the possibility of being mentored by Brady with the Raiders. "I mean more Super Bowl rings than anybody. That opportunity would be fantastic. Tom Brady I believe is the greatest quarterback of all time by a wide margin. And to be able to have the opportunity to be mentored by him would mean so much. Especially to learn and I'm all about learning. From day one I gotta learn a lot. It's going to be a long journey and to be able to potentially have a mentor like that, it would be pretty impressive and pretty meaningful."
