Central Railway’s Mumbai Division Enhances Passenger Amenities at Stations

Central Railway continues its commitment to providing better passenger convenience and safety by enhancing station amenities across its network. Significant upgrades and installations have been carried out to ensure a comfortable, accessible and seamless travel experience for commuters.
Key highlights of amenities provided by the Mumbai Division in January 2026 are as follows:

Passenger Comfort
Escalators
Four new escalators have been provided, including two escalators at Kasara station and two escalators at Badlapur station.
Lifts
Two new lifts have been provided, including one lift at Vangani station and one lift at Badlapur station.
These escalators and lifts provide much-needed relief to senior citizens, pregnant women, Divyangjan and other passengers. They enable smooth and safe movement of passengers changing platforms for travel.
BLDC Fans
A total of 142 new Brushless Direct Current fans have been provided and 289 old BLDC fans have been replaced with new ones at various stations.
BLDC fans use a brushless DC motor, which is more energy-efficient and makes less noise than conventional induction motor fans. They use electronic controllers and permanent magnets instead of carbon brushes, reducing energy consumption by 50% to 70%.
HVLS Fans
Eight new High Volume Low Speed fans have been provided on different platforms at Dadar station.
HVLS fans move a large volume of air slowly for efficient cooling and ventilation in large spaces, offering energy savings and comfort without high energy costs.
Energy Saving and Better Illumination
Energy-efficient LED Lights
A total of 362 new LED lights have been provided and 1,635 old LED lights have been replaced with new ones at various stations.
These LED lights are energy-efficient, have a longer lifespan and reduce maintenance and replacement costs. They provide better illumination and are environment-friendly.
Passenger Guidance and Information
Mail and Express Train Display Boards
A total of four new train display boards have been provided at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, including two indoor display boards and two outdoor display boards.
New Suburban Train Indicators
A total of 56 new suburban indicators have been provided at various stations, including Nerul, Panvel, Dockyard Road, Sewri and Reay Road. This includes six new suburban indicators provided at the Nerul foot overbridge.
Old indicators at various stations have also been replaced with new ones.
These new indicators are visually appealing and offer better clarity.
Central Railway remains steadfast in its efforts to upgrade station facilities by incorporating modern technology and infrastructure improvements to enhance the overall travel experience.
